Partitioning is used to divide existing rooms, or can be used to make new rooms from large open plan spaces. Partitioning allows some spaces to be created to minimise noise and increase privacy - adding to increased staff productivity. Additionally, where private space for confidential meetings, or staff interviews is needed, the right partitioning system is an ideal answer.
Office Partitioning - Types
Solid Partitions : Plasterboard panels with single or double skin, or composite panels with a honeycomb core between plasterboard sheeting. Such panels are usually used in a demountable (portable) system.
Glazed Partitions : Glass partitioning maximises natural light and maintains a sense of space. Glazed panels are built using various aluminium or plastic sections to create single and double glazed modules. Such panels can be finished in a choice of materials, including vinyl, melamine, veneer or steel. Blinds can be incorporated.
Soundproof Partitions : Usually solid solid plasterboard partitioning.
Demountable Partitions : Also known as portable partitioning, these are highly popular solutions which make it possible to make wholesale changes quickly and without undue loss of office usage whilst the changes are carried out. Additionally, such partitioning does not require too many hands to carry out the work. A disadavantage is that such partitioning is not suitable if ceiling heights in the office vary. Also such partitioning cannot be used when a fire rating is to be adhered to.
Fire Rated Partitions : For use in corridors, lift and staircase lobbies. Architect-specified to comply with the legal requirements of a building. Fire rated partitions are graded by the amount of time protection from an outbreak of fire, ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
