What is eCopy?

eCopy Document Scanning and Distribution Electronic document handling via deployment of multifunctional copiers has grown exponentially in recent years, but customer requirements vary greatly. Most users don't just want to be able to scan documents from multifunctional printers.

Customers with a mixed fleet of single and multifunction devices want the same user interface and management capabilities that they have on MFPs. They can now do that with eCopy.

Electronic Distribution of Scanned Documents – eCopy Update

eCopy, the market leader in workgroup scanning solutions for MFPs, has expanded its product portfolio to reach new markets. One of the first solutions to simplify the electronic distribution of scanned documents, eCopy ShareScan is synonymous with scanning on MFPs.

The large colour touch-screen and full-sized keyboard of the eCopy ScanStation makes it easy to scan letters, expenses forms, time sheets and other paper documents to an email address, desktop, department or specific workflow. Users can even scan documents straight into enterprise applications and add indexing data at the MFP itself, with all the security features IT managers require including user authentication and audit trails.

eCopy ShareScan is also available in an embedded version installed on the MFP itself. Accounting for 50% of eCopy installations worldwide and 70% of installations in Europe, this is a more cost-effective option as the ability to operate the software via an MFP's touch-screen eliminates the need for an external server, screen and keyboard.

eCopy has now announced a new generation of solutions that are designed to bring the benefits of its software to new devices and close the price gap between its products and the scanning options that MFP manufacturers bundle with their devices.

Scanner Support

eCopy Document Scanning and Distribution eCopy has responded to demand for a single system to manage input from a mixture of MFPs and workgroup scanners, by adding ISIS scanner support to its products. This means that eCopy will now work with network scanners, as well as MFPs, either via with an addon keyboard and screen or embedded in intelligent scanners like the Canon Scan Front 2208.

Lower Prices
In addition, eCopy has announced two new products that are significantly cheaper than the ScanStation and embedded versions.

eCopy Essentials is a stripped down version of eCopy's embedded product. It offers the same functionality as the normal version, including the ability to route scans to email, fax, network folders and eCopy Desktop software, but doesn't include any connectors for enterprise software applications. These must be bought separately. This makes eCopy Essentials cost-effective for businesses that require just one connector into a document management or ERP system, for example, but uneconomic for organisations that require two or more connectors.

Full Scanning

eCopy's other new product is the eCopy Desktop pull scanning solution which is ideal for Segment 1 desktop devices. Instead of pushing scans from the MFP to an application, eCopy Desktop must be operated from a PC after you have loaded the pages into the scanner. This means that it is mainly of use where there is a scanner or MFP attached to the user's PC.
