Need Help to Find a Fax Machine?

These days fax machines come in all shapes and sizes- your Principal advisor can help you choose the unit best suited to your needs. But here are a few pointers for features you might be interested in. You might like to print out this page and tick off the items you would like to discuss.

Footprint

The footprint is simply the amount of space your new fax takes up. Home and small office machines fit snugly on the desk; larger machines will take up more room, and in a home office, that might be a consideration.

Speed

The latest fax format is called "Super G3"- and it can transmit at a blistering three seconds per page. If you send a lot of faxes, that could save you plenty of money on your phone bill. Of course, the transmission speed also depends on the machine at the other end. Super G3 also allows you to receive multiple faxes without blocking the line, saving more time.

Fax Machine Cartridges and Maintenance

Some fax machines contain simple, "all-in-one" cartridges. These are very easy to maintain yourself. Larger machines for departmental or industrial use are offered with maintenance agreements, which are equally no-hassle.

Direct Mail

Are you fed up with unwanted faxes taking up your machine? Look for "Direct Mail Prevention" which blocks faxes coming from anywhere but your chosen numbers!

Memory

Even small faxes now come with plenty of memory. This means incoming and outgoing faxes can be stored until the line is free to transmit, or until you're ready to print out. This is particularly useful if your cartridge runs out- you won't lose any important incoming faxes.

Fax, Print, Scan and Copy

Depending on your other office systems, we offer a range of facsimile machines which also offer print and copy functions. For smaller offices, combined machines are highly economical and have a neater footprint.

Networking

If more than one person is using the fax, or if you usually send material to your fax electronically rather than printing it out first, then consider a networked fax which will hook up to your computer network. This function is particularly effective if you're likely to expand your business.

Paper Capacity

Just like photocopiers, fax machines come with a range of paper bin options. Small 100-sheet machines are fine for home use; our mid-range machines offer larger capacities, and our largest units have room to keep a whole office working without refilling too often!

Upgradeability

We can't cover all the upgrade options in one page, but our expert advisors can tell you exactly which machines can be upgraded to match your business needs. Most of the above functions can be bolted on at a later date, but we will be pleased to help ensure that you have a machine which gives you the longest possible lifespan before you have to buy again from scratch.
