It's so easy to put your head in the sand and assume that nobody would want to compromise your computer systems. That's fine until it actually happens!

Far too often, buyers only consider security products after their company has suffered a critical attack. Instead, we recommend you make a simple assessment now. If you're unsure of the technology involved, don't worry- what matters is the effect from a business point of view. What, for example, if you had no computers for a day or two? What if you lost all your customer data? What if a third party obtained sensitive product information? Answer these sorts of questions, and you can adequately assess your security risks in very simple terms. Appliances

At Principal, we sell appliances- these are standalone boxes designed to fulfil specific security functions. Unlike software solutions, they're designed for the job and won't take up existing computer resources.

Email Security

It's a simple fact that your staff are not there to be technical gurus! They're busy doing a job, not looking out for viruses, so they cannot be relied on to be your best defence. It only requires one virus-infected email to be opened by a staff member to disable your company for some time. Email security is therefore a must.

Firewalls and Perimeter Security

Ignoring the complexities, the logic of a good firewall is to prevent any nasties from getting into your computer systems by stopping them at the front door before they come anywhere near your own systems. Principal therefore offer appliances which are the first line of defence between the wider internet and your mail server.

Spam

Spam is unwanted email. It can be fairly harmless and generally just wastes your time and clogs up your system; although it can also cause offence. Our integrated security products use removal lists and sophisticated pattern-matching to weed out spam email and equally ensure wanted emails get through.

Web Filters

A web filter ensures that only acceptable information enters your network. This function can be used to restrict staff access to designated sites, or with a lighter touch just to prevent access to unsuitable (e.g. adult) websites. They can also be used to report on web activity in a number of ways.

Viruses

Viruses are more serious than spam. Viruses are malicious attacks on networks in general, or even your business in particular. The motive may be to disable your system, find out information about your business, theft, or simply malice. Either way, you need protection- and now's the time to get it. Any business, even a sole trader, cannot afford to be without anti-virus protection in today's corporate environment.
